Virgil Abloh
Born in Rockford, Illinois, Virgil Abloh was an artist, architect, engineer, creative director, art director, industrial designer, fashion designer, musician, DJ and philanthropist. After earning a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he completed a master's degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago. At IIT, while attending a design study program masterminded by Mies van der Rohe, Abloh began to create the principles of his own art practice. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago presented a major traveling survey of Abloh's work in summer 2019 - one of the best-attended exhibitions in the museum's history. Abloh was Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White, as well as Artistic Director of the Men's Line at Louis Vuitton.
